Looking into new soldering stations. Does anyone have opinions on the Weller WLC100 (40 Watts) and the WLC200 (80 Watts). I lean towards more power, but are there issues with either of these stations? They are currently running rebates on both of these stations. Have found some good pricing on both.

Thanks for the help.

If you are using it for board level repair 40 watts is plenty. The tip for the 80 watt is so large you wont be able to use it on a board.

I have a WLC 100 and like it alot. It can be turned down for fine work or turned up for heavy work. It gets plenty hot when turned all the way up. The soldering iron plugs into a 110v outlet on the side of the base unit. You could plug a higher heat iron into it if you had a need for more heat.

There are also a variety of tips avaialble for it.

Here is another post on it.

Hey thanks guys, I didn't realize you could plug other irons into the WLC100, I saw you could on the WLC300. This is the best price I have found so far.

There is also a rebate offer from Weller.

Thanks again, Jim

I have used my Weller for over 10 years without a single glitch. Only one i liked better were the Ungars which used to be many times Weller's price. Never regretted buying the Weller.

Hakko makes a nice station as well.
I think I like it better than my weller.
Worth a look at least..

Thanks again, JimFor that price buy both the 100 and 200. $37.75 - $13.00 rebate = $24.75. Thats less than half what I paid for mine.

I did it, $50.65 with a spare tip and shipping, and I still get the $13.00 rebate. Thanks for the advise.
