Hello:
Never posted to HT forum before (well, that's not quite true...but I didn't ever START a thread before).
A co-worker has a sick h/k AVR 100 receiver. I offered to take a look and ascertained that there's a 5A fuse popped on the main P/S board. Swapped in a new fuse and it too popped, so I am thinking trouble in the P/S (shorted rectifier, cap, or transformer winding?). I really cannot trouble shoot solid state equipment, so I can't help much.
I had initially told him that it probably wasn't worth fixing, but having seen how well made it was 'under the hood', I am having second thoughts about that.
So... can anyone here suggest a possible service person who'd take a look at this receiver and give an estimate without ripping my colleague off? Maybe even someone in the Boston Metro area?
If it's really not worth even getting it looked at, I'd appreciate that advice too.
Thanks for your attention!
