Artist: Jennifer Warnes
Title: The Well
Year of Release: 2003
Record Label: Cisco
Genre: Pop? Rock? Country?

This is a Cisco reissue of an album released around 1987, I believe.

Let me state up front that this is one of the best pressings that I own. Bernie Grundman mastered this album, and he did a GREAT job! This is the way I wish all records could sound- tonally accurate and full (IMHO), quiet vinyl, great dynamics. On top of this, there is some great music contained on this record.

Jennifer has recorded songs in multiple genres and this record is a great sampling of her vocal versatility. This record gets my highest reccommendation- even if you don't particularly like the music, the vinyl sounds so good that you'll listen to it anyway. Buy it :thmbsp:

Great album! I've had my copy for many years now. My Music Force/Ryco copy is showing a 2001 copyright.

All I have from her is Famous Blue Raincoat but I shall look into this one. Thanx, fellas.

"Famous Blue Raincoat" (songs of Leonard Cohen) is a must! Don't forget that Jennifer had many radio hits on the Arista label. There's a Canadian "best of" album available too.

I have 'Famous Blue Raincoat' and her 'Best of'.

I am looking for another copy of Raincoat, the used copy I have (only one I ran across locally) has a scratch across one side, a gouge in the second track of the other side. Listening around these problems, I find the pressing is top quality and worth searching out a better copy (actually, I was hoping Cisco would release that one also :thmbsp: )

I find 'Best Of' to be not the pressing quality of Raincoat or Well- more of a mainstream pop quality. It does, however, have songs that I like.

Did run across some cool info while searching online for Raincoat- didn't know Jennifer was a regular on Laugh-In.

And, she's STILL hot! Though her pictures may be from an earlier decade... :scratch2:

As I mentioned in the J.T./M.U. thread, the Jennifer Best of compilation suffers from use of 2nd and 3rd generation tapes. Some of the songs are sonically pure muck and at least one other suffers from inconsistant tape speed. Damn shame too. My copy is on Arista out of Canada. I still have some of the original EMI-America 45's and they don't sound nearly as bad.

OK- you made me dig it out :)

My Best Of is also Arista, AL9560.

Regardless (and back on track), I find the Cisco to be one of the best pressings I've had the pleasure to own, and still HIGHLY suggest you give it a listen.

Somehow I didn't quite picture Dave as a Jennifer Warnes fan...
(not that there's anything wrong with that).
