This is an outstanding album, the music, performances and sound quality are all first rate. Eleanor McEvoy is a great Irish singer and one of my favorites, right up there with the big names like Eva Cassidy, Diana Krall and Norah Jones but I find her refreshingly different.

These are great songs served straight up with lots texture and intimacy from this home studio recording. McEvoy’s somewhat dark and bluesy voice is the perfect vehicle for conveying her sometimes dark songs like ‘Last seen October 9th’ about a missing person or the cutting pieces about deteriorating relationships like ‘Did I Hurt You?’ – my favorite on this album.

I think this may be a good showcase album for realizing how good SACD can be because when I put this on I forget all about the medium and just get sucked into the music. This is available on vinyl and I sure would love to hear that version because this is at the top of my favorite SACD list.
