Artist – Dwight Yoakam
Title – Blame the Vain
Year of Release - 2005
Record Label – New West
Genre – Country/Bakersfield
Format: CD

Ok, I was hearing a lot of good comments on this one, so I decided to take a chance. And I'll be damned if he didn't finally get it right. After a number of misses and a few complete piles of crap since "This Time", he has finally hit the mark again IMO. Bakersfield fans need to grab this one.

One a side note - I really like what this New West label is up to and the direction they're headed. Gonna keep an eye on them.

What the hell is a "vain"? I don't know anything about his music- he's playing at one the locals casinos sometime soon.

Mix Bakersfield (Buck Owens, Merle Haggard) together with Honky Tonk, sharpen the edge and there you are. Best I can describe it anyway.

He is great. One of the only country singers I can listen to over and over.

I've liked some of his stuff before, but based on this thread, I'll give the new one a try!

Looking at the album cover with a huge pile of Louis Vuitton luggage, "vain" refers to those afflicted with surplus vanity. Or did I just miss a joke?
