Artist – David Elias
Title – Crossing
Year of Release - 2005
Record Label - Independent
Genre - Folk/Americana
Format: Hybrid SACD

This one is easy. If you don't have it - go get it! If you have listened to any of David's previous releases you know what kind of talent is present here. IMO "Crossing" blows everything else away - it is just that good. Even if you cannot listen to the SACD layer, which is absolutely magnificent, this disk is still worth the price of admission.

Listening to it again this morning Bill. Easily the best of 2005 for me so far.

Hey, can someone move this thread to the music review forum? I guess I created it in the wrong one.

That good huh? ;)

The 24 bit cd layer is sweet on the hybrids.

So Dave, what's your opinion of Elias' The Window?

Good reviews, DSD recording and suppose to sound real nice but I'm not sure if the music is my cuppa - if you like, maybe I'll grab this one too...

"The Window" was way up there IMO Bill. Second only to Jorma Kaukonen's "Blue Country Heart" in my small SACD collection. "Crossing" bumps it to third.

Music is of course 100% acoustic folk/Americana, which is my happy place :D

The quality of the recording is just astounding Bill - no edits, overdubs or any other games. Just a pure 1st generation mix. Of course you and Carl have a much broader frame of reference than me, so I would sure love to hear your opinion of it.
