Coming July 8,9 in Lansing is the Michigan Antique Radio Club Extravaganza. I've been to most of the meets in the Eastern US, and this is by far the best I have attended. There are usually 100+ vendors with antique radios, tubes, hifi, phonographs, etc........ Friday is the day to go, as that's when all of the good buying and selling take place. If you are within driving distance of Lansing, this is a really worthwhile swap meet. If any AK'ers are planning to go, give me a shout. I'll have a tent set up near the food    Link is below...

Were there any of that junque I like-military Boatanchors-R-390As, SP-600s & all that there ? Try to pick up an R-390A & you'll know why we call 'em "Boatanchors"- one out of the case weighs a good 75-80 lbs. W/the case, you're talking 100lbs, easy. One of mine, a W.German EK-07, weighs in at a cool 152 lbs-but that does include its "haus".-Sandy G.

Went over for a couple hours looking for FM tuner parts. Not much luck, came home with a couple of parts units. Kegger must have got there early and got all the good stuff.

Sandy, Saw two R-390A's and a R-1051. Talked with the guy who had one of them for quite some time another ex Navy ET. They call them boat anchors because when the stopped working we would threw them over the side and replace them with a R-1051.

Boo Hoo hoo...But I've also heard of literally PALLETS of 'em that were taken over the Mediteranian in C-130s & given the "heave-ho" out the back door...Sometimes our Gummint is incredibly wasteful...The 1051 is a pretty good radio-I have one-but compared to a 390, they're about as much fun as kissin yr sister...<grin>-Sandy G.

Well, I'm sunburnt, my back hurts, and my brain stopped working, but I'm finally back home. Glad you made out well Kegger! I've sold at this show for the last 7 years, and this was by far the worst year for sellers. Which of course means that it was the best year for buyers! I'm not sure what the deal was, if it's the sucky Michigan economy or what, but nobody wanted to spend money this year. I came home with a full truck!!!

As far as purchases, I did pretty well. I picked up a Fisher FM200-B tube tuner, a pair of Wharfedale W70d speakers, a pair of JBL L-100 speakers, a Heath tube tuner and a heath AA-100 tube amp. As soon as I get the truck unpacked I'll start playing around with the gear. I had to pass on the Mac gear this year, as the prices have just gone too high. I should have bought that stuff several years ago when it was still affordable. Story of my life!

There was one success story. One club member brought about 30 solid state receivers of various makes, and some guy from Oregon bought the whole lot from him! He was just wandering around aimlessly after that looking for something to spend his money on. Lucky B*stard! You just never know whats going to happen at one of these shows.

Hey markus yes I did have a good time and see you did allright getting some gear!
I got held up and didn't get there until about 11:30 on friday, then the rain came.
I bought out a guys whole lot of recievers but it wasn't 30, just 12 of them. Didn't
see some of the other stuff you mentioned, must of got sold before I got there?

Shheeww I know how you must of felt as I walked around for about 4 hours saturday
and I was beat from the heat, the rain didn't help things either!

Where abouts you located? We should get together and talk audio or maybe do some
swapping of our own, god knows we got enough gear! I'm in warren by the way 12/mound!

Hey Kegger,

Most of the good stuff sells pretty early on. One guy got 4 Mac pieces in mint condition. They weren't cheap, but they weren't outrageous either. There was also a few Heath W5's floating around. The rain was a drag! After it cleared up the first time, everyone dragged their stuff out and then it rained again! Argggh! Anyways, I'm in Canton about 4 miles west of I-275.
