I recently bought a CA 3000 Sansui Preamp on Ebay it is very clean and had been well cared for as described. I have one problem and I do believe that it may have happened in shipping. The left meter is not working and the left channel out put is very low. I am going to try heating up some solder joints to see if one may have cracked in shipping, however if this is not the case can anyone recommend someone reliable to work on this for me. I have no one in town that I would trust to do this. I can be reached a jimeck@warpnet.net.

Thank you for any information that anyone can give, Jim

Hi Jim:

Congrats on the obtaining the CA-3000. Just to let you know, I had responded to your email when you you were contemplating about the preamp- but the email kept getting bounced back to me, so I presume your Net provider or pc was having some difficulty. I have spoken with Mike Z before on the phone and I would say he'd do an excellent job to get your CA-3000 back to 100% if you dont mind shipping it out to him.

Regards, B/F.

Thank you, I will call and see what he can do. It is refreshing to find support in a group like this.

I am going to open her up and see if there is anything obvious first.

Thanks, Jim

Good luck and let us know what the problem is/was. I have been toying with idea of running my Mc 2205 through a CA-3000.

I am happy with being able to put a trottle on my two Sons of Ampzilla with this preamp. I had been using a SAE 2900 parametric preamp since I bought it new, it sounds great but doesn't give the control on volume, the slightest increase was a big change. Having the additional muting capabilities is an asset for control. The CA sounds great with the exception of one channel being weak. The control of two wild kids is great. The neighbors appreciate it. I am running it through a SAE noise suppresion system follow by an RG dynamic processor and finshed with a Specro Acoustis Graphic equalizer. I bought a Sansui AX-7 mixer but haven't thrown it into the loop yet.

I also bought a turntable form a gentleman in the UK, the CA is going to help here with better input selectivity.
