Here I am with my new car, a 2004 GTO. I'm very happy with it. Oh, still off-topic, it has a 200 watt six CD Blaupunkt stereo. It was pretty average at first, but after tweaking the subwoofer gain, it is pretty good.

The real name for that car is a Holden Monaro!
A name with plenty of history here.
What size is the engine in that that they send over there? They have a Canadian built 5.7 Gen 3 over here, good performance but very patchy longevity issues with regards to piston slap and oil consumption. The old Aussie 5.0 was IMHO a much nicer unit.
Hope I haven't rained on any parade.

Don C,
Nice car!! They are destined for SA at the end of the year.. Will be too expensive for me :worried:  as imports are slammed with all kinds of shyte taxes, levies, taxes on the levies, surcharges and more taxes.
It will be called the Chev Lumina SS with a V6 supercharged 3.8 and a 5.7 V8
Enjoy your car, she's awsome!
While i'm stuck with locally produced jap knock-offs :sigh:
Best Regards
gerrit
Ps. Tony, you looking forward to the w/e?? Gonna get your asses kicked with the rugby on Sat!!!!!!!!

Nice car. Prolly closer in concept to the original Goat of '64 than anything in quite a while. And, thankfully, Pontiac has backed off from its juvenile "Klingon High Command" styling... for the most part.-Sandy G.

Nice one Don. Thank god the aussies and GM remembered to put the steering wheel on the "right" side of the car for the U.S. market. :D Like the old style alloy wheels.

What Sandy says was always my beef with them, and the Corvette's as well...I Think the 06 is the first vette that I like the dash styling...
One guy who sold Vettes said that they concluded that one of the biggest buyers were pilots, and that they liked that kind of interior,...kind of retarded if you ask me.

This one is an automatic. I would not normally have been able to afford something like this, but this is a leftover 04 model, they are giving some deep discounts to move the last few cars. I paid 24,400 net, but some others have found even better deals, especially in the northeast states where they sent the largest number of cars. There are still a few left, quite a bargain. I drove all the way to Winnemucca Nevada, 400 miles, to get this color combination, silver with black leather interior.
This one is a 5.7 with 350 horsepower. The 05s have a 6.0 with 400, but I decided that I don't need that much.
It is my understanding that GM has solved the piston slap problem. This one is silent. The only thing that seems strange is that the fuel gauge has full on the left and empty on the right. I like the simpler 04 styling, I'm hoping to avoid the tickets that come with a flashy car.

"Thank god the Aussies and GM remembered to put the steering wheel on the "right" side of the car for the U.S. market"
Whaddya mean?? We all know why the Americans like their steering on the left.... because they need their right hand free for a tug :D
I hear they also don't like stick shift, breaks the rhythm.. Aussies had to learn to use the left hand
In Africa we drive in the middle of the road :naughty:
Ducking for cover now!!

I was reading a book about training fighter pilots in WWII. What does this have to do with which side of the car the steering wheel is on? A group of around 100 students were standing facing an instructor when another set off an explosive behind them. I think 98 out of 100 looked over their left shoulder for the danger. Besides the advantage to using your right hand and foot for most of the driving there is the fact that looking to your left is a much more automatic reaction, so having the driver's seat on that side should be safer.
After reading about the rugby player who had his left nut sewed back on (with no local) and went back in the game I doubt any religious or political beliefs rugby players have are meaningfull.
My Julia went to a college that had a rugby team and says that the girls who liked rough sex like rugby players but otherwise they were shunned because while their balls were huge, their penises were quite small.
insert appropiate emoticon here, it's a effing joke
