Its a 2000 AWD with 70K.

Also bought this one thanks to an AK'er. Its a 97 Chevy venture with a boat load of miles but the price was not to bad. Just finished up the breaks on it today. Should be real good at hauling round my stereo crap..

Kewl beans!!

I heard about the AKer van. Apparently, I drove past you guys last week taking my father-in-laws car in, but didn't recognize you (??????)

Did you move some of the old ones? Cars must be piling up at your place like audio gear!!

Nice looking wheels, Dave.

OK, so now, when I go over, I am going to have to use street signs, to find your place, instead of looking for the only Isuzu PO...

I'll just use the street signs. :D

We have several Astro vans at work. Of course, we call them "Rastro" like the dog from the Jetsons -- Foe

Foetusized beat me to the "Rastro" --
Those are two nice looking vans (we'll leave out the "mini", 'specially for the GMC, since it IS really a truck, ladder frame and all).
Y'know, minivans are about the most unsexy thing there is (not necessarily true of the soccer moms that drive/drove 'em, of course) but they're space and fuel efficient haulers. Our 98 Windstar has served us well, especially hauling our daughter back and forth to school in DC for (now) 4 years. The AWD on your new Rastro's a plus.

Ruh-roh!

After doing the breaks the van seems fine?

Anything unexpected found?

So far all is cool but the bearing on the air compressor is shot to chit. That means I either have to keep the air on to quiet the bearing or replace it. Opted to keep the air on for now..

My Sister and myself put over 200,000 miles on a 1988 GMC Safari van, which is exactly the same as the Chevy Astro van, taking care of our parents. You will find that the Astro van is extremely reliable and with regular maintenance, it will last you for many years. My only complaint with the van was how tight it was on the RHS when changing out the spark plugs. The fire wall had a couple of very sharp edges that you had to watch. IMO, they are great vehicles. The only problem we had was that the top of the van was black and during the summer the air conditioning system had to work really hard to keep the interior comfortable. Fortunately we had the front and rear air conditioners but it took both of them on at full blast to ward off the heat. Good luck to you with your purchases.

Gm recently killed the Astro van series after making them virtually unchanged for at least 79 years.<grin>..My only complaint is that they can get squirrely in high wind situations, but other than that they are good, reliable vehicles. Making them unchanged for all that time means they also had time to get all the "bugs" outta them. -Sandy G.
