Been a very long time since spent any dedicated listening time at all.
Years in fact.
Kind of made me nostalgic listening to older music which is a feeling I shy away from.
Then discovered AK and began buying some vintage equipment to "upgrade"
my system which has now evolved into 4 systems. holy cow! lol
A friend told me of a newish PFM CD of them in concert-"Live in Japan"
IMHO, they are as great as ever they were.
Decided to purchase a couple of their old cd's in addition to the Live performance from 2002 mentioned above and checking my collection I discovered I already had 4. Thought I had only 2. :thmbsp:
Received my new lot about a week ago of 5 from cdconnection.com.
Per un Amico (renamed Photos of Ghosts for english speaking), Suonare Suonare, Serendipity (kind of created for a pop market in 90's unfortunately, but has some decent songs, just not as complex as previous offerings) Isole de Niente (renamed World became the World) and Live in Japan dbl cd.
ONe of my favorite prog rock bands.

I was just listening to some PFM last week. One of the greatest Italian prog bands ever.
I really enjoy Storia Di En Minuto, which was their first album way back in 1972, and contains the most excellent track E Festa.
I also have Per Un Amico, L'Isola Di Niente and Jet Lag. All of these are recent remasters btw and all are very good when in the right mood. You have to like lyrics sung to you in Italian that's for sure. Not all folks like foreign language vocals but I don't mind them.
If you enjoy PFM you really must get some Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso (or simply Banco as they are most commonly known) as well. PFM, Banco, Le Orme and Area were the big boys in the 70's Italian prog movement but there's quite a few more. A genre well worth exploring.

La premiata Forneria Marconi e' uno dei miei favoriti! Peccato che non ho piu' i dischi.
PFM is one of my favorites too bad I don't have the LPs anymore. And don't mind the Italian language, I was born there and it is my first language.

"Goblin" was another interesting example of Italian prog rock of the '70s..... if I recall correctly.

I have the remastered Le Orme anthology 70-80. Too bad it is so compressed.
I will give a listen since it has been so long that I heard any.
I don't have to understand the words. The music says it all.
Was thinking about picking up BDMS as well, but I spent $120+ on the Premiata material.
Goblin definitely fits in to these elite Italian bands.

What a good band. I always thought, without listening to it, that was a barely good band. Some weeks ago I found the CD "Per un Amico" beautiful work, it has sounded all the week in my head. A lot of art.

I have 2 albums by them. One of my altime fav's. is the Photo's of Ghost album. Saw them live at a outdoor concert many years ago. They were the opener. Thats when I bought POG.
Alot of people thought they had a Genesis sound Before Phil took over. Or Visee Versee

I also feel some of Genesis sound in its production, may be a little dark and with more jazz touch.

Good call. My introduction to them was The World Became the World -- some of the most beautiful choir music followed by loud heavy metal guitars, and that's just the first three minutes!
Cook/Live in the USA (same album, different target markets) is an excellent live disk as well.
I need to go back and make sure I have everything by them -- I even like their jazzier period like Passpartu and Jet Lag.

Wow, another trip down memory lane. I haven't listened to PFM in a couple of decades at least. I'll have to see if I still have any of their albums. They were a bit of an acquired taste but I used to enjoy their tunes.
And I had no idea there were so many PFM fans here in AK.
What a long strange trip... I saw them live in the 70's once. Don't remember alot about it. They say it was a good show.
