Not exactly music, but Nordine's "Now Nordine" and "Word Jazz" shows originally broadcast on NPR are classic social commentary. You're familiar with Nordine even if you've never heard his name. He has been making a living doing voiceovers for television commercials since the 1950s.
But his love, and legacy, will be the radio shows. Considering our current political climate "The Flibberty Jib," originally recorded in the late 1950s, is especially relevant.
Nordine has made many of his radio shows available at http://www.wordjazz.com. I have most of them on my hard drive and will downlaod as many as possible. And yes, before you ask, I have Ken Nordine's permission to do so.
Check 'em out. They're great mind food.
