:grnbounce Hey All,

Back in November, GF was looking for a cheap DDS receiver. The conensus seemed to lean towards a 5.1 system, and I agree.:nutz:

Herein lies the rub. I don't want cheap, I'd say a mid-priced receiver, HOWEVER, the places close to me, seem to only carry the low end 5.1 receivers.:wtf: , after which, they go to the 6.1 and 7.1 offerings. Trying to find discontinued stuf has been a frustrating and seemingly pointless effort.

Other than e-bay and similar sites (and I'm not sure if I trust those places, or not), where can an ordinary guy such as me, find the type of merchandise I want?:dunno: Seems a waste to spend extra $$ for something I don't want, e.g. six channels, when I'd rather spend a few extra for a higher quality product that I DO want.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks in advance

:D George:cool:

Hi george...I was asking for my brother before...he ended up getting a Denon 1803...with some BA Sat. speaker/sub. He likes'em alot...now he can play Halo with DD5.1...lol :p:

I'm really not up on what's the current HT reciever to buy...but that's what he ended up with (sorry I can't help more)...but, good luck...and have fun!

Anything and everything is available on the net to order. Often pricing can be good but you have to shop and know what things should cost. Many of the 5.1 receivers these days are good enough. All about the same actually. I have been very happy with my Harman Kardon AVR 510. It has all the whistles and bells anyone could need and ample power to push my home theater.

Yea that Halo in 5.1 is a real kick in the butt!!
