Someone told me the volume control on my Sansui TU919 should not be bypassed as it would adversly affect the sound.
Does anyone know if this is true?
Thank you for any info on mods to this tuner also
This is my first post on AudioKarma and I look forward to future correspondence

Gotta ask the obvious...why do you want to bypass the control? The 919 is a pretty high-end tuner, and I'd have a hard time justifying a modification that isn't necessary and would destroy the value.
No, I doubt it would adversely affect the sound, but I still would not do it.
BTW...welcome to the site...

Phil,
Most tuners that have a volume control have two outputs, fixed and variable. If you want to by-pass the volume control just hook the RCA's to the fixed output and you are by-passing the volume control. Bypassing the volume control on the TU-919 would just give you two fixed outputs. The Fixed outputs may be labled Dolby FM output.
But to answer your question, by-passing it will not adversely affect the sound, you would just lose functionality.
I can help mods from mild to wild. Also in Michigan. www.radioxtuners.com
