I've never found AU to be slow. What kind of connection do you use Thor?

I reckon AU has the advantage of being visually 'cleaner' - color scheme allows for long reading of the forums... pity it keeps dying after the periodic 'flurry' of posts (with exception of the vintage forum!)
The color scheme is being discussed - see "Suggestions" forum ... have your say :)

sorry - im at work, and keeping up with ALL THIS ACTIVITY is a giving me a sinking feeling... its great!!
At night certain sites and game servers I use slow wayyyy down I have cable internet but I believe it is due to the fact of how I am routed to them at that at night the cable in my area gets more traffic, so some slow down and some don't. AU is one of those that severly slows down.

Thor
I have never had any problems with AU's speed. I also have a cable connection, and connect at the same times you do (we live in the same time zone).
I guess it could be your interneto provider.

It's wonderful that you are catching up on the old threads. You might want to have a look on the post date, before you bump a thread. This thread is number forty-four, when AK was still in its infancy, and its precursor, AU, otherwise known as Audio Utopia, was still in existence, sort of. We now have over sixty-two-thousand threads, AU is no more, and AK flourishes, as the best audio site on the web, home to the McIntosh and Infinity speaker user forums, among many others. All that, and the best community of people anywhere.
well, ahhh, ughhhh.... can someone tell me what AU is, please?
Jorge
Ancient history, Jorge. The above-mentioned community especially includes you, amigo.

Oh yea I'm a AK historian of the first degree. If I hadn't been on dial-up in those years I might have been member #3

May I suggest again that the date/time of a thread's creation should be posted next to the creator's name?

If you use IE, hover your cursor over your name, and look in the bottom of the window, and you will see something that looks like this:
http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/member.php?u=305
You, sir, are member number 305.

The "last post" has a time/date stamp, but for the thread creation stamp, one has to consult the post header bar.
Been guilty of overlooking that, a couple of times, myself.

AudioUtopia. Here' (http://web.archive.org/web/20020603125259/http://audioutopia.com/)s what it looked like just a few days before Thor's post which started this thread. Some of the forum links in the archive work, if you're particularly bored.
