The car has a 460 with a C-6 auto tranny 9" inch rearend and 4-wheel disc brakes That would make it a Ford of some sort.

Looks kinda like an early 70's Ford Torino, or possibly a Maverick/Comet....

Wish I had seen this first. That's what it is all right. Falcon XB to be specific. You can get them imported to the US now. They are VERY cool.

Well, I guessed it before I scrolled down, if you want to believe me. The right hand drive gave it away. Australians have gotten some pretty interesting stuff through the years. It would have to be very close to our Maverick I would think.

Yep. Ford Falcon XB coup. And all these years I thought Mad Max V-8 interceptor was a modified Ford Mustang Mach 1....or...An AMC Javelin/AMX.
Would'nt it be fun to cruise in this thing?

It used to crack me up when the dude would hit the button and engage the blower. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't figure how a roots type blower can supply a fuel/air mixture through stationary rotors. Any theories?

I don't know anything about supercharged "Blown" engines, but.....
The car in the movie did not have a functional blower system. It is just for show. I think the "Blower-belt" simply operates off the fan belt pulley.

Aussie cars-at least the ones from this era-are always "confounders" -they look familiar enuff, generally like late 60s-early '70s Detroit mid-size iron....but not quite. They COULD be English or German, but wait...They're too big. The Holdens have GM styling cues, & the Fords look very "Fordish", too. The RHD is what gives 'em away. Still like to get ahold of one of them '66 Galaxie 500s they made in Argentina til the mid '80s...-Sandy G.

You are correct of course. The lobes have to be air tight or it won't work. I was actually challenged to a fight during an arguement over this issue back in 1984. A dude in my apt building tried to tell us that the rotors would "feather" like an airplane propeller when the clutch was disengaged. What a maroon... :withstpd:
