Just received a hand-me-down Sansui FR-Q5 turntable. I have scoured the web, but cannot find any specs on this component. I am trying to determine if I should replace my Technics SL-QD33 Quartz Direct Drive TT with the Sansui (OK, this is a blasphemous statement for this forum I am sure, but the FR-Q5 does seem a bit on the cheap side for Sansui).

Can anyone provide me details on this thing: belt vs. direct, wow/flutter specs, features (it says its "computerized"...what does the computer do?)?

Thanks in advance for helping the newbie!

Two-speed (33-1/3, 45) direct drive
Die cast aluminum alloy platter (2.86 lb)
DC brushless quartz servo motor
Wow and flutter < .025% WRMS
Recommended tracking force 2.5g

Regarding the "computer" and what it does for this turntable, I have no idea!

Welcome to AK! Best thing to do is listen to both and keep the one that sounds best to your ears - never mind which label is on the front. ;)
