Brandy's Volvo got hit in the ass end, and totalled. She's fine. At the same time, the A/C in my truck has gone out, so we have been driving around for 2 weeks in the Texas heat car shopping.
What a beating.
Found some good cars, some not so good cars. Nothing 'felt right'. That is until yesterday. Last day of the month. She couldn't be happier. I think she will forget about her 850GLT in no time flat.
Enter a Toyota Solara SLE V6. This car has everything, alloys, strong motor, sunroof, leather, traction control, etc etc. If you think it looks familar, it does. It's twin is the Lexus ES300. Drives like a dream. I've taken a few Camrys and Corollas around the block, and they never did much for me. Good all around car. On the sporty side (for her), but can still seat 4 adults VERY comfortably.
Just wanted to share, we got it for a song, and she is thrilled, to say the least.

That looks real nice RuSs. We've always driven Toyotas for our "real" cars. My wife's 4 Runner has been fantastic. That thing looks really neat.
Glad your wife wasn't hurt in the accident.
Take care,
Ed

Yeah, after the open heart surgery she had at the Mayo Clinic earlier this year - I nearly passed out when I got the phone call, and her voice was shakey.
I will say this - on the way to help her, I took some turns in my little S10 that most wouldn't attempt in a Ferrari. Ever seen a mini-truck going around a corner on 3 wheels?
I'm just glad she has everything she wants. Comfort / Amenities, power and performance, good looks, and most importantly - it's a safe car.
Cheers,
Russ

Russ, I am glad there was a happy ending to this story. And it is a nice ride. My brother got one for his wife. Safe car? Some drunk driver crossed the centre line, and hit my sister-in-law, not full head-on, but almost. Nancy still had control when she hammered the brakes. She got the car turned a little, and cops say that saved her. Car was totaled. She crawled out the passenger door window. Car did everything it was supposed to. It gave its existence to save her. My sister-in-law had hardly a scratch, not even much stiffness, the next day. My brother went out the next day, and bought another Solara, a new one, to replace it. No better recommendation.
Happy to hear that the Mrs is OK, and happy with the car.

Just the kind of feedback I wanted to hear my good man.
Congrats! Can't go wrong with a Toyota.

Glad the lady was ok - that's most important.
Nice ride too. We used to have a 740 wagon, and to this day, I've never missed that car. Good choice on the Toyota.
