View Full Version : Lucinda Williams on Letterman Aug. 3rd
JDaniel 08-01-2005, 10:25 PM Just got an email from Lost Highway Records saying:
"Don't miss Lucinda Williams performance on the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday, August 3rd. Be sure to tune in!"
If you aren't familiar with LW, you should be. She's one of my absolute fav. female artists. And she doesn't fit any one genre. She's as bluesy as it can get, then country, then twangy country, then rock.
I cooked up a pretty good IMHO Lucinda compilation last year. If anyone isn't familiar with her and wants to try out her music, send me a PM.

Maybe I can stay awake long enough to see it. She did an Austin City Limits (I think that's what it was) awhile back with Elvis Costello that was really good.
jguzman21 08-02-2005, 12:36 AM Lucinda Williams?...hmmmmm never heard of her :D . Thanks for the heads up Jeff.

abone1999 08-02-2005, 12:40 AM Wife and I saw LW in Edmonton last summer at the Winspear and it was probably the best concert we have ever seen. She connected with the audience unlike most of today's artists, actually took requests from the floor, plus she played for so long the theatre manager finally had to cut her off.
Great performer!
Balthazarr 08-02-2005, 05:00 AM Isn't there a black actress named Cinda Williams that was in a flick called "One False Move" (among others) with Billy Bob Thornton and Bill Paxton? Damn good movie btw
Not the same person is it?
stormy 08-02-2005, 08:43 AM I have 2 of her CD's - great sound! I'll have to tape Letterman. Thanks for the "heads up".
clint e. 08-02-2005, 07:31 PM Yeah,JD
I know Lucinda from "Happy Woman Blues" till "World Without Tears" . :thmbsp:
She's got everything. :naughty:
Shame in Spain.
We don't have that Letterman Show.
"The Martin D-37W Lucinda Williams Signature Edition embodies altcountry attitude. This traditional Dreadnought features a top of Engelmann spruce, and back and sides of flamed claro walnut. Scalloped, forward-shifted top braces enhance the powerful tone. The low profile neck is carved from genuine mahogany."

No call to get personal, son............any man that looks at the cover of World Without Tears and tells me she ain't hot is gay.

Maybe it was a Canadian thing, but I saw her two 4 years ago in Nashville (at the original Ryman- Grand Old Opry) and she did not connect at all with anyone not in the band. Didn't bother the music at all, which was stellar. She was kind of hostile, which goes with the punk-rap thing which is another dimension of the noted versatility. I'd say that her 'tude it was in terms of an "occupation" of the center of the country music world by a clear outsider. Good stuff, she's coming to the Brown theater in Louisville shortly. -sf

Sorry tentoze,
but in that cover you can't see if the human figure it's a man or a woman. Maybe is a travesty (like that cover of Roxy Music):lmao: :lmao:

If you can't tell that, you get to stand in the line over there with all the guys with the pink shirts.
bob adams 08-03-2005, 09:27 PM Thanks for the heads up. I think LW is probably the one of the best singer/songwriters, male or female, in the country right now. Hope she sings "I Think I Lost It".
Another great female singer/songwriter is Kim Richey. Get her debut album "Kim Richey" and listen to that guitarist (Richard Bennett) in the band. He kicks some serious ass. Definitely worth the price of admission.

That's it. I'm gonna break one of my own rules. I don't normally slap around elderly people, but this time Eric... :twak: :twak:
