Hiya all...I just picked up a Dual 1216 for $5 at an estate sale. Now...I know this might sound stupid but how do I get sound? What should I check? I have a speaker but I don't know where to plug it in at or does it come with a built-in? Any help would be appreciated. :) Thanks!

You need to plug the turntable into something that amplifies its signal. You plug the speakers into said amplifier. A receiver would probably do the job of amplifying your turntable.

Good price. Make sure you plug it into an amp or reciever that is preamped or says Mag ( for magnetic) Phono. It was the lower end of the Dual line but what the heck for a 5 bucks I would have grabbed it too :thmbsp:

If that's indeed "lower end" then I'm very impressed:

The 1216 has a 10 inch platter. The 1229s have a larger 12 platter and run quieter with a lower wow and flutter. All were lookers though...Still would grab it though. Welcome to AK Vikki. Post when you get the 1216 going. I have several older 1009's with 10 inch platters. Nothing wrong with these :D Have fun with it!

Welcome to AK vicki22intx. This site (http://www.compassnet.com/concept/tableinx.htm) has some good info on Dual tt's.

Eric, I've seen 1229's and the praise that goes along with them. I bet even with an idler drive it'd make my 1257 look and sound sick.
