Greetings all,

I recently purchased 50 7" reels of Scotch 207 tape. 24 of the reels were still factory sealed and the other 26 reels look to be opened but unused. All of the open reels still have a white tape arounf the outside that looks to be factory fresh. So far I've sold six of the sealed reels on e-bay in 3 separate auctions so I'm left with 18 NOS factory sealed reels and 26 reels that have been opened but never used.

I know that Scotch 207 is hard to find, let alone trying to find remaining unopened new old stock reels. I'm trying to get a feel for what these tapes are worth but I really don't have any idea besides what the completed auctions say on e-bay and the spread there is too wide to be of use.

I'm wondering what members of the forum feel would be an approximate range of the value of my sealed and opened reels. And I'm also wondering if people feel that e-bay is the best way to reach buyers for these tapes or am I better off putting them in classifieds on audiophile sites such as this??

Thanks

Hi Blake,

Welcome to AK....

Heck for a $2.00 ad here it sure would be worth while to give it a go. Just click on the "Classifieds" header on the top of the page. I have never used Scotch 207 tape but might be interested if the price was decent. I really have no clue what a fair price would be for them... :scratch2:

Welcome to AK, Scotch 207 was made in the late 60's and early 70's.
High-Output, low noise 1800 feet polyesterbase.
Later Scotch came out with Scotch Brand Classic with 3 different mil, 0.5 (2400 ft) 1-mil (1800 ft) and 1.5 mil (1200ft) Also polyester base and surface treated.
Even if your tapes are sealed it all depends how they were stored in the past, cold /hot/ basement/attic etc.
Value wise, l don't know IMO Maxell 35-90 is a better option and higher price of course.
Like Mike said, list them at Classified section here at AK, as we have many tape-reelers here. :)
