View Full Version : Sansui SP-Z99
sub-sonic 08-07-2005, 09:42 PM Well I just picked up these nice set of speakers, they are the Sansui SP-Z99
They sound excellent and I bought them for my livingroom sound system. The problem is...I cant find out anything about them on the internet, I searched Google and found this site, which is very cool and informative, so I bet somebody out there knows something about this pair of speakers. I am looking for some specs on them and how far up the chain in quality do these rate...I hope they rate as good as they sound. I hope to here from everybody....I live in an apartment and I hope I dont get turned in for having them up to loud...I sure would hate to have to get rid of them....Later
shelby1420 08-07-2005, 09:51 PM Welcome aboard!!!! far as the speaker goes me thinks they are 280 watts per....never heard Sansui speakers so can't comment on them, if you like them though....Good score!!!!
sub-sonic 08-07-2005, 09:55 PM They are 320 watts @ 8 ohms
sub-sonic 08-07-2005, 11:13 PM here is a picture of the Sansui SP-Z99. Any information on these would be appreciated. I think they look very cool, they remind me of what the 1980 ghetto blasters looked like, They look star wars ish also. :thmbsp:
sandawa 08-08-2005, 04:41 AM someone offered me a pair of SP-Z99 a few months ago, and it really looked awesome. unfortunately, the price was a bit high for me and i never had the oportunity to test it. just wondering what the power buttons on front panel are for, considering it's not an active speaker.
sub-sonic 08-08-2005, 07:03 AM The red button is a powered Bass button, they other 3 silver ones are for sound balance...one is normal, one is soft and the last silver button is soft-2......when pushed they change the sound of the speakers....kind of like a built in powered subwoofer and crossover.
sub-sonic 08-08-2005, 07:13 AM In response to the buttons, I forgot to mention that there are LED power indicator lights that light up from 1 watt to 100 watts and then at the end of that range is a power overload LED if you get past 100 watts....these are 320 watt speakers, I live in an apartment and its lound enough for me on low volume here, but I wish I could turn them up higher, because the LED lights are cool when they light up. Very, very nice sound.
sandawa 08-08-2005, 09:04 PM thanks sub-sonic, sounds like you've got a good one there. next time i see the guy selling me his SP-Z99, i'll have it tested - his asking price was something like $200.
sub-sonic 08-08-2005, 09:35 PM $200 sounds like a steal for them...I would buy them for that and have surround sound SP-Z99. You dont hear of bargains like that very often. I have found a little information on them so far, I am getting the feeling that they are super rare...I see tons of everything else but the SP-Z99.
jupitor 04-09-2008, 05:11 PM Yes , I'm a Sansui fan along time , have been out of the loop for 30 years , so I'm just now learning about the X series , I guess the Z series it the top of the heap.
320 Watts per side is alot in your living room ; even if you have a big living room ; in the country ??!!
If anybody out there has a set to sell, because all his neighbours are , not so inclined , Please let me know !! ???
Thank you,
Jupitor jim
superdog 04-10-2008, 01:02 AM So someone somewhere also has a set of these huh?I have a set.I consider them Sansui kabuki but I like them.Last time I used them was last summer outdoors for the fourth of July.Paired with a Luxman R-117 it sounded like a concert in the backyard.I'll see if I can post some pics this weekend.
