Hi all i was just thinking about hopping up my lawn mower. And i need some advice on the cheapest site that i could possibly go to to get parts for it. Ps its a 7 and a half horse simplicity with a brigs and straton engine. But first i have to get the thing to move. I had it running and moving today but after i moved it about 25 feet the whole rear end went out :thumbsdn:. And my dad knows a guy and he is actually a really good friend of his. And he knows just about everything about small engines. Also the float for the carb is stuck as a result it gets flooded and leaks gas out of the carb. He will rebuild that too and i also need some ideas on what color colors to repaint it. Its also been sitting for a really long time 11 years.

thanks jeff

You might thing about rebuilding the carb yourself. I did it on my car for the first time a few years back. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought and it really made me smile when I turned the key and the thing actually ran!

I've built a couple more carbs since then and still really enjoy it. Nice relatively clean job you can do at a work bench instead of under a greasy car- or lawnmower as the case may be!

Good luck,

Ed

Jeff, there is nothing to a carb on those. Pull the bowl off from the bottom. If it's the one I'm thinking of, the high speed jet is in the middle of the bottom. Around that is a nut that holds the bowl on. Under the bowl is the float, a pin that holds it, and a float valve. Watch for any little bent piece of steel that holds the float valve to the float and pull the float out. Clean the valve and it's seat with carb clean. Usually it's just a small piece of crap from the fuel tank that stops it from sealing. Get a small in-line filter for your gas line, worth every penny.

Ok i got it to drive again you know how i said the rear end was out well its not. It just has a hard time with getting into gear but i was already pulling picnic tables and cars with it today. Plus i have a fort for when i was 10 and i started pulling that thing down with it other wise it runs good and has alot of power. But i need to weld the back defferential so both tires spin not just one if i am stuck.

Jeff-If you wanna go to "Pull Heaven", make plans to go to the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky, in Feb. They pull EVERYTHING there from lawnmowers to the 8 wheel monster tractors that bend in the middle. The coolest ones are the jets or the ones w/Allison V-12 motors. I was up there one year, & this one guy had 4 454 Chevy motors on his rig, one let go, & blew something thru the ceiling of the auditorium. The crowd went wild, but the poor guy didn't win...Sometimes the smokestacks of the jets get white hot...-Sandy G.
