I popped in on a garage sale today and spotted a KLH Model 24 integrated turntable/radio/amp with speakers. Essentially mint condition based on appearance alone.

Same as this one:

Fully automatic, queueing turntable

Worth pursuing?

I would pick it up for ten bucks, only because it is cool. I have no idea about the value.

I agree. I have heard a set of the speakers that came loose from the turntable and quite liked them. I likewise have no idea on the collector value of the set.

However, as usual with garage sales and CL listings, if you posted here to find out if it's 'worth it' and you find that it is, you've probably missed it. The time to strike is when the opportunity presents itself.

That's what I thought.

I offered 10 and she turned it down. Said she wanted closer to 25. I wasn't too excited at 25 so I walked.

This wasn't out in the garage like the rest of the stuff. I asked and she let me in the house. So, chances are it will be there later.

I would probably pay $20 or even $25 just to get the speakers if they were primo. Probably not more than that. But that's me. I like me some KLH speakers. YMMV.

Yeah, $20 would've been a deal. If the 24's are anything like the 20's, which they look the same from the outside, they will have a rich, warm sound!

Agree - Very good speakers - not unsual to find them intact...some rubberized material for the surrounds - seems to last.

I would have plunked down the 25 if it was an intact set...might even pay that for the speakers alone.

I had a mint model 20, got it for $25. I enjoyed it for a while, then sold it for $75.:thmbsp:
I don't think you could go wrong at $20-25.

I'm not sure about the Model 24 but I believe on my Model twenty+ the speakers are designed by Henry Kloss specifically for the system (I think they are 4 ohm speakers) - not sure if that is the case here.

That is a really decent deal, I would have pull the trigger on it purely for the condition and TT alone. I'd say if you can sang it, good luck

Side note I snagged a little KLH Model 21 at a garage sale today hehe

I think I'm going to pass. If the response was an overwhelming "yes this is a TOTL system and only a handful are in existence" then I would. But I'm just not that into these integrated TT systems to use it. If someone wants the coordinates, PM me.

You guys kill me.....

There's one on ebay that has been bid up to 253 dollars!

that said, there's one up there with a BIN of 80 bucks.

People tend to go higher on bidding, because a BIN price has less of a "deal" mentality.

The tuner is the 18 tht sells for more than $25. From memory, the 24 amp is larger than the 20+ amp and is the rare 16 integrated. The 18 and 16 make up the 27 receiver but the 27 does add AM. The 27 in good condition can hit $200 easily. Add the 24 speakers and $25 is a bargain value wise.

My older sister has one of those she bought in college in the mid 70's . The turntable reciever still works except the drivers are half shot. Clean sound but couldn't play a current hungry speaker very loud. Good for low spl listening of vinyl.
