Hello. I have a Yamaha CR-1000. It works great except when you switch on the FM tuner. The signal and tuning needles move. The AFC/station light comes on for strong stations but there is no volume at the speakers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you-

I don't recall exactly which of the paddle switches across the bottom of the faceplate that needs to be operated, so just try them all one at a time. Drove me nuts with the one and only CR-1000 that went through the shop simply because it is not intuitive. I do recall that it was in the group of switches right of center.

Merrylander, thanks for the quick help. Unfortunately, no luck with the paddle switches. Is this in any way related to the output amp section? Thanks in advance-

Then you must have an oxidized set of switch contacts somewhere since everything else works OK. I'm trying to remember the front panel of that unit but it has been a while and I have only had the one CR-1000 go through here. I know that one of the favorite 'no output' problems withe 1020s and 2020s is when some previous owner removed the little plastic bit that locks the pre-out/main-in switch in the on position and the switch gets moved. Picked up a couple of Yammies where that was the only problem. That and missing jumpers. But since you have sound on the other inputs forget that.

In case you haven't already checked it, make sure the muting switch is turned off. On my CR-1000, I get no sound at all when the muting is on.
