Ironic? I don't know.

Very moving story. You can bet that your son will NEVER forget that moment, and that he shared it with you.

You are the lucky father.

It feels good & hurts at the same time for me to read stories like this. Feels good, because they're heart-warming, and honestly, who wouldn't love 'em? At the same time, it hurts because I know I'll never have those kinds of experiences...I'm too old to start having kids-and first off, you gotta have a wife...I know I blather on about Bethany, but she's the closest thing I have to a kid, and I DO love her so & the time I get to spend w/her. Anyhow, Tim, thanks for sharing that w/us. You are a man well & truly blessed...and WE are blessed by knowing you...-Sandy G.

Thanks guys :)

Seems that every once in a while, the big guy upstairs will just drop a hint to let you know he's still around :)

Great story Kam. Sounds like something that happened to me back around St Patricks Day.

I was packing a huge Fisher quad receiver for ebay and I accidentally set it down hard on the floor. Behind me I heard something fall so I turned around. I walked over to the sofa and discovered what made the noise. A photo had fallen off the top shelf of a cabinet. It was a picture of my parents and siblings at Irishfest in Milwaukee two months before my dad died of prostate cancer. He was very weak at the time (wheelchair-bound) but somehow had the strength to make the trip.

So I just stood there for a moment stunned that one of the last pictures of my dad and us reappeared in a most dramatic fashion on St Patrick's Day and told my dad that I loved him and that I'd let everyone know he's looking out for us.

Later that week, I found out he was trying to tell me something far more significant.

My older brother Tom had been living with his girlfriend Jill for two years and on St Patrick's Day, he proposed to her. Roughly about the time the picture fell off the shelf. After I found out about the proposal, I looked at the photo again and realized it was the only photo we have with my brother, Jill and my dad together. This was my dad's way of giving his blessing to their marriage.

They were married on Aug 14 and honeymooned in (of all places) New Orleans. Fortunately they got out before Katrina KO'ed the coast.

Great story Tim. :thmbsp: I am sure if you had to chose between being filthy rich and having a family life like yours, I am sure you would easily happily keep the life you have now. Money could never replace the happiness and experiance you share with you family like the one you described.

Like Sandy, I will more than likely never have the opportunity to experiance anything like you have. My step-son has walked away from his mother and myself for any family related activities.

Cherish all the days like the one you described. They end all too soon.

Joe
