A friend gave me a Realistic TR-3000 reel-to-reel machine this weekend, along with a box of tapes.
The machine's clean and in pretty good shape. I plugged it in, threaded a tape (geez, that reminded me of my days studing Broadcast Journalism) and hit Fast Forward and the tape zipped on by. Then I pressed Rewind and the tape zipped in the other direction.
Then I pressed Play and the tape played way too fast. Toggled the speed switch and it didn't play at the correct speed with either. Then I took off the tape and rethread it.
I hit Play, and nothing happened. It makes a slight whirring sound, however.
So, is this thing worth fixing? I can't help those tapes will sound dandy with my Mcintosh tube amps.
