Can everyone see the Member Classifeds button? You enter them through the button, top right-hand corner of your screen. (That is not as silly a question as it sounds. Not all AK skins have that button.) The reason I ask, is that there is BIG news in the AK community.

There is a new feature, in AudioKarma, which begins today. AK now has an ONLINE CHARITY AUCTION (http://audiokarma.org/ads/showcat.php?cat=45), to raise funds for opt80. The listings are free, and all proceeds must go to opt80. Our auction (DAMN, that sounds good!) runs very similar to that other online auction site. You can highlight, italicize, boldface, post up to three pics, set an opening price (no reserve, though), add a description, and enter up to ten search keywords. Donors can list with shipping included, or ask the buyer to cover shipping, your choice, but, please specify, CLEARLY, what your terms are. Listings will run for your choice of several options, from 3 to 90 days.

For the bidders, you can have a proxy bid, up to your own secret maximum. Bid increments are set according to the spot price. e.g. $1 price has a $0.25 increment. Larger prices have larger increments.

Got a question, about this AK auction board, please, pm me.

All those of you, who are waiting in the wings, to list gear for donations to opt80, can now post your items in the Charity Auction. So, clean up your gear, take your best pics, sharpen your pencil, and show us what you've got. Remember, this is the AK Charity Auction, not those other guys, so post away!

OK, dog', what skin do you have on AK? 'vbulletin 3' and 'arcade' give you a hot button to the Classifeds. Split, collage, and old school do not. Try to change the skin you use, to one of the two mentioned, and you will see what I mean.

If your browser doesn't support that feature, go to the Forums index, and enter through "Member Classifieds and Partswap".

That's right, ra. You get to sit in the big rocker, by the fire. Or, if you'd rather, you and your SO can curl up in the armchair, big enough for two.

I tried both skins and still do not see the hot button and because my ad blocker is turned on I don't see the classifieds. I do not want to turn off the add blocker as some of them have left Tracking Co. software behind and it takes too long to constantly be scanning for such stuff.

You do not have to turn your ad blocking program off. But you will have to go into its setting and allow http://audiokarma.org/ads/ to load.

Rob, AK doesn't leave behind tracking software. I have changed my adblocker to consider AK a "Trusted Site". No problems for two years.

Crap, I just looked at the auction, and I am already smoked out of the bidding. Grumpy, you won't have to bid it up, it is going that way already.

I know it will pain you to part with it, but it is for a good cause. It will hurt, but it's a 'good hurt'.

Well so much for ad blockers, Norton Internet Security wants an address of the form aaaaa@bbbb.com so it will not accept a URL to the AK classifieds. I hate new and improved software, the old AK software worked, now no matter which skin I use I don't get the hot button and I can't access the classifieds without opening the door to all sorts of chit. Oh well.

Rob

Your software has the option of letting just this one site through without letting the whole damn through.

Without going way off topic the old classifieds sucked ass an were a huge headache to everyone who runs this site. Sorry but the new ones are here to stay.

Back on topic I do not use your exact version of a pop up blocker but I'm sure one of the folks here do and will chime it. Its usually as simple as pie to allow a certain sites only.

For anyone who has the answer, I am running Windoze XP SB2 on a Dell Dimension 2400. I have Symantec's Norton Internet Security 2005, and System Works 2003.

When I try to add an "allowed" site it wants an address with the @ sign, an email address in effect. No matter which skin I select at the bottom of the main page, and I've tried them all, no hot button. In fact I have also never seen the advertiser's selection on screen (Parts Express, etc.). Oh yeah Explorer 6.0.

Can you still access the classifieds and B&V ads, through the forum index?

I don't have NIS or NSW, as I found them very intrusive. I run Norton AntiVirus, and the ZoneAlarm (free) Firewall, and that took care of the problems I was experiencing with NIS/NSW.

Sorry I don't have a solution, short of suggesting you look in 'Help' for the ability to set a site as 'Trusted'. I know the "Spamblocker" wants email addresses, to grant permission, but there should be a separate section for websites, maybe in NIS. Grasping at straws, here.

Merrylander - I had the same problem. I'm running nis 04 with win 2000. If your OS has a 'web assistant' (I keep mine in the top rh corner all the time, small globe thingy) click on it and you will be able to disable ad blocking for this site only. When you navigate other sites, it will be enabled unless you turn it off. This allows me to enter members classifieds without turning off ad blocking each time.

Hope this works for you. :)

Thanks kwmrlg, that did the trick for a whole lot of things; I can access the classifieds, the hot button is now at the top of the screen, and all the supporting vendors now show up at the bottom. The online help was not much help.

WOO-WOO!!! Thanks, kwmrlg, for helping solve this.

And, another Canadian, too! Where are you located?

The good part is that Norton still seems to be on the job, I have had two messages about attempts to invade my PC that it blocked since I have been online today.
