With a light rain falling, I set out on Sunday afternoon to see what photo opportunities I could find. I love overcast lighting with a bit of rain.

First stop was Ashburne Farm where the light rain and the mist falling down from North Mountain provided a real moody picture of this typical Nova Scotia vineyard. I was a bit worried about the rain on my new Canon but it seems to have survived.

Next was a trip over North Mountain to Black Rock harbour to check out the lighthouse. It was not photo-worthy this day but some driftwood tossed up on the beach during one of our winter Nor'easters provided a nice still subject study. I love the difference the low contrast lighting makes to the wood - you can see the shading and the textures in the wood far better in this overcast light.

On the way back out I spotted some folk-art woodwork. So, I stopped and shot this wonderful mermaid posing on the lawn of a sea-side house. While I was down on my knees composing this shot, a man came out and asked me if I'd like to see more inside.

Well, much to my surprise there on the wicker sofa was my new girlfriend! What a babe!

PS: I've tried 10 times to get the pictures uploaded but this BUSY SERVER issue is getting real ugly! :worried:
PPS: Finally - at 7:25 this morning!

Thank you for the kind compliments. We do all like to please with our photographs, no? Some though (like the folk-art mermaid) are just snap shots (record shots) and not specifically "art". Nice to have but nothing compelling about them.

I'm waiting for a new zoom lens that has macro focusing (1:1 at 105 mm - so it will have a very comfortable working distance) so I can try my hand at some small-world shots. :thmbsp:
