Greetings all. I aquired a scott 350A awhile back from an AK'er, that was simply in stunning condition. It was working fine up until recently. The left channel output has become next to nill. It can be heard faintly if the volume on my amp is all the way up. If I switch from mono to stereo, the channel gets louder, but only the higher frequencies come through. There is also a dull 60 Hz hum all the time. I have replcaed input filters, the .01 caps across the AC line, and tried adjusting the Hum control, and it still persists.

For the last week I have been re-capping this tuner, and trying to troubleshoot where the signal loss is. I have come to two strange un-identifiable objects. They look to be coils, but I cannot tell for sure. I do not have a schematic, and go figure the HH scott archive has one for every model but this one.

one connects to pin 1 on V504 (12AU7) and to a 3k resistor that is in teh signal path from the level control. The other is the same, except it connects to pin 6 on V504 and to the other channel.

One has a resistance of 125 ohms, and no capacitance. The other has infinite resistance, and .05 mf of capacitance. Does anyone have a clue what these are and what they're values are supposed to be?

Any other suggestions of where I might find the solution to this weak channel problem?

Any input is greatly appreciated. I really miss this tuner, and want to get it working properly again.

Don't have a scat for the 350A, but do have one for b and c. No V504. The 310E uses a V504, however it is a 12AX7.

Scott was bad about updating their scats so even if you find a scat for a 350A, it probably doesn't match what you actually have.

I'd compair the 310E scat to what you have in front of you. There V504 is used for separation and could cause your problem. the cap off pin 1 is a .01 and the one off pin 6 is .005.

Sorry couldn't be more help.

THanks for the assist X. THere is probably someone or some company out there that has a service manual and scat, I just haven't found it yet. The 350 b uses a similar setup except they have a selenium rectifier and a 6au6 in place of the 6bn6. Supposedly the two things I am looking at are coils according to that scat.

Even I f I get it working properly, I still have to take it to get it aligned. I'm saving up to have a local scott tech fix it for me. I just don't have the skills for a tuner....
