Monster Power Home Theatre Reference Power Center
HTS2600

I bought this for a number of reasons. Likely not so much for what it does for/to the power but surely that in itself is a good thing though.

No I bought it for looks. Naaaaa not really but to be honest, it does look real tough sitting there in my new audio rack and the lights on it are neat.

Actually the biggest reason for getting this was the sequential timed on and off outlets. From the one switch on the front I can now bring on and off my tube amp and tube pre in a correct sequence. It appears to be well built. Neat how the power cord cord cap is angled and has a small orange light in it's head.

Everything plugs into it nicely and I was real happy with the vendor that I got it from. As you may notice from that link, most retail sales of this unit is right about 350.00 I found a real good source on E bay for it and these guys move a lot of them keeping their pricing down. I picked it up for 260.00 shipped and it came fast. Real happy with the price and the vendor.

Does all that clean power make things sound better? NOT! Gimme a break. Well, I already had a clean grounded 20 amp circuit at that location so I really don't think I had any problems to begin with. For the price though I wanted this look and function in my rack. The pics of the new rack will be ready when I get back from Vegas this coming Tuesday. I will post then.

Hey WW how are you liking the HTS 2600? I've got one on order already. One of Kam's customers works for Monster Cable so I'm ordering a new one through him.

Hey Mike, what model are you getting? I've been real happy with mine. I don't think it changed the sound at all but I do like the protection it offers me. What I love best of all is how it cycles on and off my tube pre and amp preventing the typical speaker "thump". Luv the blue light in it too hee hee hee :D

I ordered the exact same model the HTS 2600. I could tell you what I paid for it but then I'd have to kill you. :D

Don't plug your CDP into it and see if that helps with the sound. I have all my analog gear hooked up to an isolatation transformer but the CDP is just plugged into the wall keeping it's noise out of the system. CDPs create a lot of RF noise (somebody who knows more than I do told me that is why there is a certification on the back) and really dirty the power up. I bought a small 120/120 iso transformer that has enough ma in the secondary to drive a CDP but haven't built a box for it yet.

I think you're correct about the RFI and CD players Thatch. I assume that is why most DAC's come with their own low voltage power supplies ( 12V). Since my CD player is only a transport I think I'm safe to plug it in to the HTS2600. Am I wrong with that assumption?

"MA in the secondary"? Ya meant VA as in volt/amps as in watts didn't cha? :)

WW,yup. Not enough watts to run an amp but it will do for a CDP.
Mike, I don't think the CDP will operate differently because you are using it just as a transport.

Actually it will work a little differently. I'll bypass the built in DAC's so that only a digital signal will be coming from the Pioneer Elite PD-54. It'd be kind of redundant to have a DAC and use the ones already built into the player.

I just set my 2600 up today and the switched and timed outlets are faulty. Have to send it back......I have 2 3500's in my "Hide-A-Way and have not had any problems with them....oh well.....:scratch2:
