I've been looking at this amp for several days, and have finally decided not to get it myself. I already have one (I'm in the process of moving mine into my living room rack), but I really don't need another (I'd rather get a SA-710 to complete the set). Its an OK buy for $50 including shipping and handling, particularly with the 10 day warranty. The 100 watts of power is the consumption rating on the back, not RMS output.

My main reason for this post is to make the offer to anyone here at AK that bought this, I'd send them a free pair of replacement switch covers for the two that are broken; I think I have them listed in the part swap. I've got several of these switch caps that are not pretty but will work OK -- Foe

Look close at the front plate. . .The bottom left corner has a good dent or the ear is bent over. . . No wonder the switch is bad. Looks like it was dropped.

If there's an offer on the table, I need a switch cap for my SA-510 for the loudness switch. I know, but it kind of looks like ass without it. :yes:

No problem. I've close to a full set extra knobs and switch caps from a rust-bucket SA-710; I've already used one switch cap on my SA-510 as one was broken when I bought it years ago. The chrome on these isn't the prettiest, but they're all in one piece.

Strawman, send me a PM with an address & I'll send you a switch cap, gratis. If you feel the need to pay, send something to AK -- Foe

That is very interesting. For future reference (including mine), I'm going to copy and paste over the component lists from the Syscom systems in the brochure.

The systems covered are;

Syscom 5000 (with SA-710 amp, TX-610 tuner, PL-260 turntable, CT-F615 cassette deck. CS-710 speakers & CB-710 cabinet)

Syscom 4000 (with SA-610 amp, TX-610 tuner, PL-260 turntable, CT-F615 cassette deck. CS-610 speakers & CB-710 cabinet)

Syscom 3000 (with SA-510 amp, TX-410 tuner, PL-250 turntable, CT-F615 cassette deck. CS-510 speakers & CB-510 cabinet)

Syscom 2000 (with SA-410 amp, TX-410 tuner, PL-250 turntable, CT-F600 cassette deck. CS-410 speakers & CB-510 cabinet)

Syscom 1000 (with SA-410 amp, TX-410 tuner, PL-250 turntable, CS-410 speakers & CB-510 cabinet)

Syscom 700 (with SX-700 receiver, PL-260 turntable, CT-300 cassette deck. CS-510 speakers & CB-510X cabinet)

Syscom 600 (with SX-600 receiver, PL-250 turntable, CT-200 cassette deck. CS-410 speakers & CB-510X cabinet)

Also covered in this catalog are the TVX-9500 hi-fi television tuner, DT-400 and DT-500 digital timers, the SE-2 and SE-550 headphones and the DM-210 microphone. These accessories could be added to the prepackaged systems.
Looks like the TX-710 digital tuner had not yet been added to the lineup for the 1980 model year. Also looks like I need a TX-410 to pair with my SA-510 if I would want to be "authentic" -- Foe

Thanks. That one's pretty close to me. I know its part of Pioneer's low-end line, but I like collecting the Syscom line anyway.
