Here you go folks, my newest addition. Whachta' yall think?
Light blue Fender Strat with Fender Lace Pickups. It was purchased
used off of ebay but literally looks like new. And she sings like a
whipperwill would while waiding wrecklessly with wild weezles... :thmbsp:

Never had the itch for a hollow body Gibson?

For some reason, I never felt comfy with the Fenders...But if Steve Howe plays one once in awhile, it must be good...:-)

What year? American Standard? etc. so on and so forth.

Actually I've played a Gibson 335 and an Epiphone Sheraton. The Epi was
extraordinarily sweet to look at and I considered buying one.
Alas, since I have two electric acoustics (a twelve and a six) I
always felt like a hollow body electric was kind of overkill.

Actually this is a 2003 tricked-out Mex. It didn't come with the Fender
Lace stock, that was about a $300.00 upgrade ( which was about what
I paid altogether). With the upgrade it's closer to an American Fender Deluxe,
ie: Eric Clapton model. Who also happens to be one of my favorite players.

Now a brand new American Fender Deluxe with Lace p/ups will set you
back a grand, easily. Ouch...

I'll get some pics of my AS Strat up this evening. I love it, as I do my AS Tele.

I'm pondering a Vibroverb 64 reissue in the near future. Gotta do something with my spare D130.

Nice Strat. At first I thought it was a Plus hence the lacies. I'm helping an ill friend in Phoenix sell and bunch of his guitars on E-Bay right now....hard market thats for sure. He's got a 97' Plus/Ultra, Parker Nitefly, American Deluxe Strat, Hallmark just for starters. I've noticed that bidders are much more conservative bidding on $500-$1000 on E-Bay.

Anyhow nice addition to the family.

Nice strat! I love the Mexican Fenders, great gits for the $. My Mexi Strat has that blue-droplet "splatter" finish they had for awhile, it's a conversation starter. My Tele's a basic sunburst. I have a Mexi Jazz and Precision too...done quite a few gigs and sessions with those two. Not exotic, no snob appeal, but feel and sound good and get the job done. A setup and pickup upgrade do wonders for the Mexican Fenders.

Nice...nothing wrong with those Strats. A few years back I had a California Strat that played and sounded great. Congrats! :thmbsp:

You answered my question before I even got a chance to ask it. I've always wonder if those inexpensive Fenders were worth the money. Now I can go out and spend a couple of hundred bucks.

Thanks.

Check out the US made Peavey Predator series before you do. Very comfortable necks, and the pickups have more push than Fender pickups. Sort of a cross between a Fender sound and a P90 sound.Since Peavey has a sort of "discount" reputation, you can get a used one for what you'd pay for a Fender or Squier made in Indonesia.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'm going thru a second childhood but I just have a craving for an 'lectric gitbox.

JM there is no shame is starting a new venture or getting reaquainted
with an old love. I have always felt that playing an instrument was its
own reward. Without a doubt, I love to listen to vintage audio but, to be
able to play the songs.... :thmbsp:

A few years back i played some of the then new reissue Strats. These were the ones with the burgandy mist and shell pink etc. finishes. I thought then and still do that these were the best value Strats. A friend of mine told me these were Mexicans. They had a better fit and finish than most of the new models. They were less than half the price of the American Vintage models. Did they continue to make that series in Mexico?

Mexican made vs Chinese manufacture. The Mex one, the other was a piece of
CHIT!
