View Full Version : Steak and Sprouts
reyneman 10-01-2005, 10:54 AM This is one of my favorite dishes
Prepare the steak of your choice in the manner you prefer.
While it's cooking, take your sprouts, clean off any discolored leaves, x cut the bottoms, boil till tender. Place in an ovenproof pan, cover with a mixture of your favorite seasonings and cheese.
Place in a 400 deg oven, along with several baking size potatoes, bake until potatoes are tender.
After the steak is cooked, allow it to rest for 5min, place on plate with potatoes, serve with cold beer and bread (or toast). Use whichever steak sauce you prefer, use plenty of butter and sour cream on the potatoes.
Clean up when finished...enjoy
tentoze 10-01-2005, 10:58 AM Two out of three ain't bad.
Sandy G 10-01-2005, 11:01 AM You forgot one step...Toss the sprouts down the Garbage Disposal...then sit down & enjoy the beer, taters, & steak...-Sandy G.
luvvinvinyl 10-01-2005, 11:51 AM 'toze, you will note that, at no time, did reyneman mention anything about serving the sprouts. Just cooking them.
And, cleaning up, after. I guess that's where he takes care of the dish of sprouts.
grumpy 10-01-2005, 11:58 AM Ain't it a crime to serve steak with sprouts in Pensy ??

I think it's mandatory to listen to St. James Infirmary while you eat that meal.

gearhead 10-02-2005, 01:13 PM To me, that's like putting ketchup on a filet.
The sprouts should be on a separate plate, in a separate room, preferably in a separate county.
Seriously, I could eat brussels sprouts-once a year is OK.
jt1stcav 10-02-2005, 11:30 PM Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses of brussel sprouts...
I love sprouts, but no one else will eat 'em, so I don't buy 'em anymore. I won't cook an entire package of frozen sprouts for myself.
toxcrusadr 10-03-2005, 02:53 PM Dude, there's always Tupperware for the leftovers! If not for that I wouldn't get any either, or pasta with pesto, salmon...etc.
Missingtime 02-29-2008, 04:47 PM Throw it on the range and forget it. The meat retains rediculous low temperatures.(put on you bopped eye as an ice pack) set and forget. I can rule the saucepan and teriyaki finish. and sour cream . what is this Russia?
grumpy 02-29-2008, 05:06 PM Why in the world would you even ruin a perfectly good steak with those alien looking little thangs..
birddog 02-29-2008, 05:28 PM I'm with you on the sprouts! I love the little green guys! I like 'em with a little butter, salt, and vinegar sprinkled on them! Yummy!
jim w. 03-01-2008, 09:21 PM sprouts are so good
whoaru99 03-01-2008, 10:53 PM Butter, salt, and pepper on the steamed homegrown sprouts.
Oh yeah...steak... ribeye, medium rare, with coarse ground sea salt.
VinylHanger 03-01-2008, 11:31 PM Salt, butter and a bit of olive oil on a package of frozen sprouts..... good eating till I can get me some fresh ones.
Besides, mix them with a bit of beer and it is entertainment for the whole family.
