Hi,
I am wondering if anyone here knows the type of lens used in the Mcintosh CD players? I tried looking at Berner's as well as Roger's sites but could not find any related information. In particular, I am interested in the lens used in the MCD7009.

I think its either Nakamichi or Pioneer. Pretty sure I was told it was Nakamichi but I could be mistaken. The 7000/7005 used Philips, I do know that for sure. Try looking on Roger Russel's site. There are a lot of intimate Mc details on his pages.

I tried looking at the recommended site and could not find any information on which brand it used. I was wondering if changing lens on this CD player is a simple process or do I need to get the Mc agent to do it. Only concern will be the high cost for the latter option. :thumbsdn:
I know for a fact the 7008 uses a Nak transport.

the 7008 is a changer and hence the Nak transport. The current mcd205 changer uses the Nakamichi brand transport as well.
The mcd7009 is a single-disc player incorporating the vrds disc clamping system. Does that mean the laser is from TEAC? :scratch2:

The Nak transport uses Sony optics, last check they were $24 at MCM. Fairly easy to replace but optics come with a shorting link, if you forget to open it nothing works.

that's for 7008 cd changer.
Mine's the 7009 single disc CD player. What optics used for this unit?
Thanks.
Hi there,
Can anyone tell me the part number of the Sony optical pickup used in the MCD 7008? Mine needs to be replaced soon, as it no longer can play CD-Rs properly. I'm here in Vietnam and we don't have any Mc authorized service center in this country.
Cheers,
Vince
