Orions says

Made from 1970-1973
70 wpc
MSRP $300
Used $145

I'd like to find one of those just for kicks, always liked the looks of them :thmbsp:

I thought that they were 100 wpc. And I think Orion is off on the years, too, I think it came out in '69. Stene?

I cross referenced the year of manufacture with classicaudio.com and they say the same :thmbsp:

Watts per channel ?

Orions is pretty spotty on somethings :sigh:

How 'bout some pics?

ps: I see a really nice-looking TU-777 on an auction site somewhere ::koff::

It exactly matches the look, just not as wide.

Well, this explains a lot... I thought it was a little wimpy for 100 wpc. 50 makes a lot more sense.

Contemplating on buying one too. How does it sound compared to your other sansui integrates?

JGarcia, you bastard. :D I try not to cuss but :dammit: I've been wanting one of those. Seriously, that was a killer deal. I've mentioned here (AK) before that I grew up with one of these in the house and remember its sound very well. My dad has acquired a 9090 and G8000 and to my ears and his the AU 999 still sounds better.I always remebered the power as being 50 w/ch @ 8 ohms.

Let's remember that back then, 50 WPC was serious power. Oh, not the king of the hill, but -quite- substantial.

Especially when played through some huge bass-reflex box with horn tweeters.

Oops. sorry, I meant integrated amps. Has any of you compared it with other integrated amps? what are the difference?

I saw a AU999 at a pawn shop in decent shape for $35, however the output of the right channel sounded like the speaker was blown, but the same speaker with the left channel sounded fine. Anyone know if it is easily repaired?

This kind of info sucks (for me). Why can't I find one, working or not? KR7600 if ya can't tell I'd have that thing home by now.

Welcome to AK KR7600, could be that it simply needs a good cleaning ( the potts i mean) or it could be something more, either way for 35$ it would not be stayin there if I had seen it..................
