Artist - The Good Rats
Title - Live at Last
Year of Release - 1979
Record Label - Uncle Rat (NYC local label)
Genre - Rock
This album, recorded in 1979 at My Father's Place in NYC (a late great venue) shows The Good Rats at the height of their powers doing what they did best-playing to a live crowd.
Here are all their greatest hits exuberantly played to an appreciative audience:
Taking it to Detroit-One of the few of their pieces to get airplay, featuring blistering guitar work by John (The Cat) Gatto.
Does it Make You Feel Good-The whole group wailing and showing off the harmonies that made them "The greatest group that never made it".
You're Still Doing It-Two power love songs.
Fireball Express-"The Cat" Showcased and making the most of it.
Klash-Ka-Bob-Drummer Joe Franco showing us why Leslie West wanted him.
If I had one beef against this album, it would be that the version of Injun Joe the group chose for this album featured a guest Ian Anderson clone flutist. This song was written to really show off the chops of all the members, and compared to a lot of the shows I went to, paled in comparison. Be that as it may, this album ROCKS and shows what the boys from Long Island were really all about and why so many people in the NY/NJ/CT Tri-State area wonder why The Good Rats never made it to the big time. If you can find this album, buy it!
...and and 9 other tracks to get you tapping your feet and moving
