I would think my Visonik Davids would sound almost as good and they wouldn't bring that much. Must be the tweeter people want to match.

Those listed look near mint to me so thats about what they go for.

The guy I bought my Kappa 7's from must have had Infintessimals cause he gave me their manuals with the Kappa 7 stuff. I should have called him back and asked him what happened to them. He was moving and getting rid of all his electronics.

It certainly helps that he took half a dozen great pics. :fart:

They're so nice I saved 3 of them to my hard drive. Just don't see them that often. :thmbsp:

Those look nice, but not $400 worth of nice, with time left in the auction. 400 will buy you a lot of speaker.

That's nucking futs! I'd have a pretty hard time getting seperated from 4 C-notes for them without a lot of auditioning. :guitar:

I agree the price is too high, but that was a decent speaker in its day.

Hell I'd sell my much better sounding 3-way Qb's with the EMIT tweeters for half that price. For $400 you can buy a much nicer speaker. IMHO

Cute little speaks. I'll go $35.

The asking price for the Infinitys shown is substantially higher than the original retail selling price of a pair of those speakers. I believe the Infinitesimal sold for just $275 per pair when they were new. This makes the asking price for this pair seem ridiculous. There is nothing about these speakers that should command a price of $400.

$560 bidding closed and it looks like a legit bidder. Say what you want but I bet most of you that say you would'nt spend $60 on them would sell them somewhere in the vicinity of the going price ($560 is insane) in a heart beat.

Yeah, I'd sell my mom for that.
Well, maybe not my mom, but definitely my wife.
But really, what does that make my RSe pair worth? Is it just the small size that's so valuable, or are these incredibly rare?

For the life of me I have no idea how this speaker ended up selling for $560. They must be rare for that to happen. I remember having a pair as a loaner once during the late 70s after my Tanget mini monitors were fried. They were okay but I never thought there was anything noteworthy about the performance.

I think we all agree they ain't worth it from a performance standpoint. They must indeed be rare and the seller put them for auction at just the right time. Maybe my original owners manuals will be worth something...not.

Absolutely nuts. Like I said, I bet my Visonik's sound as good.

That's ebay for you. They're worth what two people are willing to pay at that time. I've sold a number of things on ebay for twice the going rate. Another pair could go up tomorrow and not break $200.

I can't begin to get this. How good could those little guys sound? For that kind of money you could get a lot of really nice speakers. Actually, I do get it. It's like the Bose thing.

The prices seem to be largely driven by rarity, though I've read others say they've excellent, cohesive sound. Don C commented in another thread that he had a pair and didn't think them particularly great, so it must be rarity pretty much.

For most other Infinities, if one really wants to, it's fairly easy to diy most any model; the drivers and crossovers are relatively available. For the Infitesimals, while the tweeter is fairly common, that woofer was used only in this model and it's something special. It's a 5" version of the famed 12" Watkins woofer used in the biggest Infinities, it has dual voice coils. I've a pair of the 12s and can say that they are some mighty fine sounding drivers, I've no doubt the smaller version must be equally good in the higher frequencies. This driver isn't available separately and noones going to part out theirs, so to clone a pair of Infitesimals is impossible.

To account for the rest of the price, it's most likely due largely to collectibility. The rest of the small Infinities are fairly common and the rare big Infinities are too big and heavy to ship cheaply, so this fits the nitch.

Has anybody ever seen a pair of Infinity Monitor Jr. bookshelf speakers from the mid 70s? I once owned a pair. Wish I could hear them again. I thought they were too bass heavy, though.
