Vampire Hunter D
Eighth Man After

and one REALLY tripped out one where a bunch of elderly hackers inadvertantly turn a futuristic hospital bed into a Frankenstein-ish nightmare.I'm not making it up,AKers. Can't remember the title-saw it on SciFi channel a few years back.

Now look,
the story was that some nursing home dwelling elderly computer hackers saw a demonstration of a hospital bed that washed, fed, clothed and pretty much imprisoned it's occupant. The idea being that a machine would take care of a resident,no human labor involved, dig?
So,they tried to sabotage the whole bit, hacked nto the bed's computer. What happened was, while a fellow(an elderly guy pressed into guinea pig service)was lying in it, he and the bed somehow linked mentally, turning the occupant/bed into a continually growing/morphing monstrosity. It would absorb all machinery around it-anyway,a really good movie,an sly commentary on the impact of technology on healthcare,I guess.Porn,it ain't.

I love Spirited Away. I have not yet seen the new film, the "...Moving Castle".
Has anyone seen Excel Saga? It is very, very twisted anime, about 2 teenage girls that are members of a secret organization, Across. One of them keeps dying all the time of hunger or some illness and has to be revived. the other one keeps getting killed and is "reborn" again.

Vampire Hunter D

Ninja Scroll (just finishing up Ninja Scroll the series BTW)

Doomed Megalopolis

Devil Man

Eighth Man After

Wicked City

Crying Freeman

I prefer the more twisted, vilolent, sex filled animes, hence Wicked City is probably my all time fave, than the Akira type drama ones, I have heard interesting things about one called Black Bible? ;)

I was (still am) a fan of the Dragonball Z series.

The boys were watching it when they were growin' up and I kinda got cought up in the story line.

I wish the old underground comic "Ranxerox" would be developed into an anime feature. That was years ahead of its time.

To this day, I think James Cameron ripped it off for his "Terminator" series. "Ranx" came out in the 1970's and there are too many simularities.

I like alot of anime.

Fruits Basket
Final Fantasy movie (Cloud, not that stupid one)
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Trinity Blood
Pokemon
Kaleido Star
Ceres (it's alright)
Bleach
Hellsing
Death Note
Scrapped Princess
Full Metal alchemist
Tenjho Tenge
Howl's moving Castle
When they Cry (creepy)
Let's see, I used to be a fan of Inuyasha until they just kept going and going, 300 episodes now? 400? idk. They just wont let it go.
The story line is just stupid now. Same thing, " wind scare! Oh no, it didn't work, what shall we do?" lol!
I hope i don't offend anyone who like this show.

"Ghost in the Shell" for me.

Seen some others that were ok, some that weren't, most Anime just never did anything for me.

Deathnote seems to have some potential, but I haven't watched enough to care one way or the other yet.

I loved the original Eighth Man. I can't seem to find it anywhere although I have an old VHS copy.

I also like Death Note, although not as good as the original Manga books it was very entertaining.

Man, I tried watching some Ren & Stimpy again a couple years ago it and just kinda freaked me out.

I have no idea what the appeal was anymore.... :(

I prefer the first 2 seasons Shane. When John K left, the series really went downhill. I probably should have been more specific because the latter incarnation of R&S was truly awful.

my favorite animes are Cowboy Bebop, death note, xxxholic "its not porn!", and a relative new film I have only seen uploaded on Stage6.com back before it shut down is Mindgame, It is the most brain bending yet moving story i have ever seen. If they ever release it for U.S. audiences please see it. Logan

Eh. More of a Family Guy & Futurama person myself, though I played a little Final Fantasy X a few years ago. I'm not sure why, but the Rikku character had some sort of disturbing appeal... :nono:

Working as a director at an anime convention (Anime Weekend Atlanta) has its bonuses. Got to see a lot of stuff over the last 14 years!

My favorites:

Space Pirate Captain Harlock
Future Boy Conan (maybe the best animated TV series of all time, from a quality-of-writing and characterization standpoint, IMHO).
Starblazers/Yamato
Porco Rosso
Metropolis
Omohide Poro-Poro (Only Yesterday)
Macross- Do You Remember Love (movie)
Whispers of the Heart
Queen Millenia
Laputa (Castle in the Sky)
Galaxy Express 999
Cowboy Bebop
Steamboy

BTW: Speaking of Lynn Minmay from Macross- we've had the original voice actor/singer for the original Minmay (Mari Iijima) as a guest at our convention, two different years now (AWA 5 and AWA 12). She's a real sweetheart...

Regards,
Gordon.

you're a lucky, lucky guy!! MACROSS is one of my core favorites! i was initiated to it, and anime in general, through ROBOTECH fifteen years ago. i would love to find a good sub of DYRL, barring that, even a raw japanese LD would do!! i only have the movie in that infamous english dub in poorly recorded SLP. a wonderful movie, marred by a roll-on-the-floor-laughing DUB job!!:D i simply can't understand, with the wealth of great U.S. voice talent these days, why no one has tackled redubbing it!!!! anyway, Minmay's cute dress at the climax of the movie inspired me to make this for my buttercup...
