OK, please don't make fun of me (well, not too much) and don't chide me for not doing a search, but I have an ipod question.

Got our son a 60 GB ipod for his birthday (#18) earlier this month. It has 'frozen up' a couple of times. Once, a recharging session seemed to fix it... too early to tell, yet, if it'll recover this time.

My simple questions: is this a known ipod 'feature' (as Bill Gates would say), or is this a software issue, or is there something wrong with the hardware? If either of the former two, is there a quick/good fix?

I haven't been able to get him to look into it, so I figured I'd ask here, amongst friends.

Thanks for listening, folks!

I have read that some people have had the thing freeze when unplugging from the computer. You can try to hold the menu and center buttons for 10 seconds. I believe this will reset the unit. I am not sure if you will lose files when you do this, so all general disclaimers apply.

Ilounge forums (http://forums.ilounge.com/index.php) may have specific information on this problem.

It is important to properly "remove" the iPod from the computer before taking it from the recharging station. It could be as simple as that.

Thanks for the info... it's freezing up 'on its own' (i.e., not connected to anything), so I don't think it's related to computer connection per se.

Re-setting it as described fixed it the second time. May still be related to battery charge?

Which system is it running? A new update came out yesterday. 6.0.1
