Picked up a Admiral console stereo yesterday, spotted it on someone's porch.
The console itself is dated 7/61, the amp chassis is marked "7R1, Run 11, 6/27/61". PP 6BQ5, with 12AU7A driver stages, (Admiral brand RCA cleartops)
with each output side self-biased with a resistor of course. (Admiral brand RCA 6BQ5's) Admiral brand 5U4 rectifier with no choke in the supply. (That sucks....)
PS transformer is nice and beefy, with a nice sized 6 and 5 volt winding, the output transformers are roughly the same size as the Magnavox 6BQ5 PP OPT's. Not very big, but not teeny tiny little things only good for midband.
They have a 16 and 8 ohm taps, usually something you don't get with a cheaper console amp.
But it's set up with the 16 ohm taps on the midrange and tweeters, with the 8ohm taps on the woofers.
It has the reverb chassis with the reverb box. (Admiral brand RCA 6X4, another 12AU7A cleartop, and a Admiral brand Amperex 12AX7.
The power amp chassis is a nice 12" x 6 1/2" x 2". plenty of holes punched on top for cooling.
The guy said it worked, but the input cap has visible leakage. Oh well, I'll need to upgrade the supply and throw in a choke....
Any schematics floating around for Admiral Hi-Fi stereo consoles for around '61?
I guess I could just sit here and figure it out......
