The Rush thread got me thinking about other great IMHO Canadian bands....Perhaps my favorite is the Tragically Hip. Besides having one of the greatest Rock & Roll band names ever, I really love all of ther music. I have all of their stuff and listen to any and all of them all of the time.
Here are my personal favorites...

Up to Here
Road Apples
Day For Night
Trouble at the Hen house

It's funny how I discovered these guys...I was auditiong a stereo system and they had one of those demo cd's. The first song title was "locked in the trunk of a car"... Needless to say after several listens I was kind of blown away and told the salesman that whatever I chose that day the cd had to go with....

I have a couple of their records and I like them a lot. I should pull them out again now that I have my TT working well. Very good band.

First time I heard the Hip was back on the first week I started college at SUNY Buffalo in the fall of 1992. Friend of mine took a bunch of us cruising around in his car, and we were listening to "Fifty Mission Cap", and I thought, man, this is a band I can get into!

Still enjoying them today :thmbsp:

great band to say the least.but i suspect you'd hear that coming from a canadian :D .i have all their albums and a big fan and will go out to see them whenever they pass thorugh.gord downey is a very interesting character and if you ever get to listen to any of the bands live stuff you'll know what im talking about.the guy can go of into rants and stories during a song that'll make you go wtf.seriously anyone if you havnt heard of the tragically hip check them out .

For me, they are a lot like Procol Harum in the fact that their albums don't come close to doing them justice when compared to their live performances. I do enjoy the Hip albums that I have, but if you have seen them live, there is just something missing.
