View Full Version : Audiokarma back after days of repairs
Wardsweb

Our appologies to all our members for being off line for the last few days. It took quite a bit of work to bring the forums back online. There is one thing you will notice. The attachments are missing from the posts. This is a casualty of the corrupted database, but all the threads are there and no member data was lost.

I thank you and all who made this happen, Wardsweb, most gratefully. The idiot who pulled the plug is the one who should apologize (or be put in front of a firing squad), not you, sir! :D Attachments lost? As far as I can see, that's a small price to pay.
It's good to be home. :smlove:

Tim, Luther, Dave, and anyone else involved in getting the site back up, thank you a million times over. And for putting the old server back in operation in the meantime, I thank you as well; even though answering posts a year old makes ya feel kinda stupid LOL

Don't know what happenned. My earlier reply went away. But, good to see you guys back. Notice, with a littlehelp from my Karma, And Syl's radios friends, I was able to copy my Avatar from Syls. No, it's not my dog. I love animals. Someone offered to help me on shrinking my over-sized pictures. Is that offer still standing? I can e-mail copies. :)

Would it help at all if a lot of the members got together and deleted their old posts that they felt werent productive?Theres a lot of things I write that are just fun,or really, really stupid. With all the effort you guys put in,I wouldnt mind putting in some time to weed through some of my less interesting/informative posts. Not deleting any threads that I started, just maybe some extraneous responses.Im sure that would get me down to about 5 posts.Just an idea.

Amen to all that has been said, recovered a few servers in my day and it is as much art as science, but either way it is a lot of plain hard work. The only god thing that will hopefully come out of all this is sufficient donations to cover the new server (hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge). Seriously guys we are really lucky to have the dedicated crew that runs this site and they deserve all the support we can give them.

Don't know who the kind soul was that told me about the other site, but, so far, not any fault of yours, nor, even mine, site rejected me. I got an e-mail from them last night saying I had to get my parents', or guardians' signature, and fax it in. I have been in touch with Ron. He says sytems' not set up for that, and it sounds like someone broke in, and is manipulating the system. He asked for, and I sent some important information, but, so far, have heard nothing. I'm very dissappointed......... :sigh:

A huge THANKS to Grumpy, Ward, Kam, and whoever else was out there behind the scenes rescuing our precious posts... ummm... interesting missives... ummm... accumulated blather (in my case).
One important note to you all: Please quit apologizing! No one has to apologize for breaking their backs providing a largely free high-quality service. We, the membership, owe you an apology for not contributing enough to make sure these glitches can be avoided.
One important note to the Members: Remember back in the days when AOL charged by the hour? My AOL bills ran over $300 some months, and I swear I didn't spend as much time as I do now on AK, didn't learn much of anything, and only found a few people I was willing to meet in person. At those rates, and matching value for value, most of the members here (including me) owe AK hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. $20 isn't enough. If you can afford more, send it!
Ok, enough of my blather. Now, that OvenMaster has provided the above-quoted revelation, I have to go send him some PMs on mideast peace, my wife's spending, world hunger, and the ground loop hum in my tweeter amps (not necessarily in that order). :D

Hey, ovenmaster, did you get my e-mail yesterday?
As for what other site, it is a site for, and about Philco radios, among other things. I now seem to be tied in with 4 forums. However, in order, I think the best two are Audio Karma, and Syls'. However, Antique Radio Forum is a very close tie with Syls'.
Bought a replacement keyboard for computer today. I seem to have wrecked original. I guess I slammed my head on it once, too often.
