Looking at those pictures, it at least looks like it works (looks like the watt meters are moving).

That's half the battle there... granted it does need quite a bit of help in the cosmetic department tho... :D

Yes you are infected and there's no cure!!!

You can find a junked SX-780 and take the knobs and levers from it.

You outbid me with 4,- Euros, o.k. :D
I wanted to use my parts-SX-780 for the knobs, and the case from the nice SX-980 I found in garbage. The SX-980 is good working, but has 2 disadvantages. First it is no SX-1080 and second it is 120Volt reciever.

Than I would had a nice looking, good working SX-1080 and a SX-980, I had to build a case for. :sigh:

Believe it or not but the SX-980 was Pioneer's second highest selling receiver after the SX-850. . .

I know that when I was buying and selling Pioneer receivers I had more calls for a 980 than any other model. . . Seems the 980 was a favorite of many students and now today those students are adults trying to recapture their youth.

I still say the SX-950/980 is the most underrated receivers on the market today. I understand the appeal of a 980 over an 880 but the poor 950 sits right between the 850 and 1050 both legendary in their own right. . .

Oh, I won't believe in that
Maybe you go better for a defect SX-780 on ebay, they show up from time to time. But most challenging will be to reconstruct the case with new veneer!

I loved my SX-950, but then I bought a SX-1050 for the sam price and sold the SX-950 because the phone-amps had distortion.

@junkaudio, I can give you 3 knobs and 6 caps for 20,- Euros all ??

I have some nice knobs for a SX-1080, and probably the weighted tuning wheel, if yours got bent.

Did you recieve the knobs, I send you?

That is very lazy. The seller had to pack it more carefully than normal, because the case was not o.k. ..... you payed over 110,- Euros - bad Ebayseller. :thumbsdn:

You wanted to have a winter project, so you have a little time left to fix it
