just joined ak, great source of info. recently acquired a thorens td 147 mk2 and my questions are 1. how do i know if the lubricant needs to be changed and how often? does the anti skate being stuck on 1 cause any problems, using ortofon super 20 om at mfg recomended force of 1.5 grams? sound is great overall, but still gradually going through the set up and dont want to screw things up. thanks for any input. also any oils to avoid on the spindle?

Do a TT forum search on lubricants and oil and you'll have a full days worth of posts to read. Sorry, no help on the other problem.

Have a look at:
www.schopper.ch
I got a small bottle of original Thorens Oil from them for my TD124.
