A local thrift had a bunch of LPs come in; a handful were Baroque and Classical titles on the Titanic Label. The covers were in great condition.

I bought a couple because they struck me as interesting, such as the Boston Museum of Art Trio playing the Complete Works for Violin & Basso Continuo of J.S. Bach. The Trio plays on instruments from the museum as close to the original period as possible.

The back cover "blurb" points out that most Stradivari violins have been modified as music changed; the necks are re-angled, wire strings replaced gut strings. On this alblum the 1691 Strad used was restored in 1974 to what is said to be its original proportions.

I am totally devoid of music talent and my tastes are plebian at best, but I enjoy the history.....

Also in the new LP mix were quite a few bluegrass and traditional folk LPs; I picked up Alison Krauss' debut (?) at the ripe old age of 15, and Bill Monroe's 7th Annual Bluegrass Festival "Back home Again in Indiana".

If I recall correctly Allison Krauss won her first Frets magazine award for that debut album. It should be quite good. Bill Monroe rarely released any trash.
