Well, I have really gotten into rtr recording (I knew I would). I've used my Teac 4300 almost every day since I bought it. Now it's time to buy some more tapes. I have 2 scotch dynarange tapes, and I really like the way they sound. My question is, does anyone else like dynarange tapes? I kinda see them as "sleeper" tapes; they don't seem to cost a whole lot, and they sound great. I really like Maxell UD's, but they cost too much $. Any other opinions? Any other tapes you would recommend?
OH yeah, 300th post. Sorry I havent been around for about 2 months, I've had so much going on. It's good to be back!

Scotch Dynarange tapes were recommended by TEAC, as their decks of that time period were biased for those specific tapes (Scotch 150 or 203, etc.)

Maxell UD is a "hotter" tape than Scotch. The Maxell will have better high frequency response.

I've been through a flurry of tape buying myself and thus far, nothing has touched the Maxell's I had from the old days.
I posted in another thread my love with R2R's faded with 25 years of editing commercials at radio stations, now when I bring it up at work they all call me "Old School" and are of no help.
Back in my youth "when I wore an onion in my belt, as that was the fashion at the time. G.Simpson" wait, where was I.....
A buddy of my had a nice Tandberg and would only use Scotch, his Dad worked for 3M and would go on at lenght on the failings of Maxell. I never found any but I'm thinking about picking up some 996 as one of the "young punks" I work with said it's pretty good, and Maxell is spendy. Worth it, but spendy.
