I picked up this amp (free) and the speaker has a tear in it. The amp section works fine. I am going to atempt to repair the speaker before replacing it if I could just get the damn thing out. Any ideas on how to get the speaker out?
It has to come out the front as the back is sealed.
Thanks
Rob

I called Peavey and they let me talk to one of the repair techs. He said you pry the grill framing out. It is held with clips. He also mentioned velcro.
Well I am off to start the speaker removal process.

Hah! I just did this to my own Basic 60! Welcome to the club!
The tech (obviously) is exactly right. I never thought of calling Peavey. I just asked guys on here:

Yeah, it's velcro alright--the toughest velcro I've EVER run across in my entire life! It'll take some prying but it will come off. If you have any questions, I'd be glad to help!

Yep, we have a Peavey Basic in our listening room too. My son assaults it frequently with his BC Rich lookalike bass! LOL
