Almarro 318b versus 318a

Brian: can you tell what the difference is between the 318b versus the 318a. I have Vandersteen 1c's in a small room, and I was thinking that the 318 would be a better match than the 205. But, I was wondering what the difference is between the 318 a and b.

Hi Noel,

The main difference between the two versions of the 318 amp is that the B version has somewhat bigger output transformers, and offers noticeably greater extension at both frequency extremes. In comparison, the A version has a softer presentation overall...
