Just saw this today. I was a bit hesitant since it was not allowed to be reviewed. It was pretty neat, I was surprised, could have been developed a bit more but I enjoyed it. A bit of a thinker too.

I saw it back several years ago a few times. Really couldn't quite figger it out-Was she supposed to be some sort of villain or heroine, or what? And since the programming on MTV is apparently done by imbeciles, seems like it was never on the same time twice. Anyhow, I suppose I'm WAY too old & out of it to be able to understand anything as obviously ultrahip as Aeon Flux. -Sandy G.

The TV ads look sensational. Charlize Theron sure doesn't hurt, either. I can't wait for the DVD, personally. I even put up desktop wallpaper before the movie came out! :naughty:

It was very complete in the story line and did not seem to draw on any previously produced material. If you like action and a bit of 007 type stuff and a decent plot you'd like it. Now I know someone is gonna chime in and say they hated it. I'm saying I liked it.

You'll like a few of the scenes in the movie then.

Hard to imagine she could do anything but help. Beyond the amazing beauty, she's got one Oscar and appears maybe going to be up for another.
The cartoon was cool but I was turned off by the movie from the moment I saw the previews doesn't look like the animations at all IMHO. Apparently the movie is so bad the movie company wouldn't screen it ahead of time for critics.
I may see it on DVD but I was excited when I heard they were making it, I just wish they has designed it more true to the look of the animated series.

That said it all for me. I am a total sci-fi/fantasy nut (just saw the latest Harry Potter: :thmbsp: ), so I am pretty discerning when it comes to my futuristic/sci-fi big-brother movies. The cartoon was superb and any movie has a lot to live up to. This isn't a Spider-Man, good guy vs. bad guy plot. The cartoon was very adult and complicated. The fact that no screenings were allowed was the nail in the coffin for me.
Other movies that did not allow pre-screening for fear of critics:
-Catwoman
-The Village (M. Night Shyamalan's worst rated movie - like a Twilight Zone stretched to 4X its proper running time)
-Alien vs. Predator
-Exorcist: The Beginning
-Kung Pow (Gawd was this one awful!)
I think I'll wait until it hits HBO. Actually, the cartoon was just released on DVD!!
On the same note, if there are any SPAWN fans, I highly recommend the cartoon issued on DVD. It came out before the live action movies and is MUCH more enjoyable.

Uh oh. I made a copy of Catwoman because I've been a fan since Batman Returns. I've yet to watch it. Should I just make it into a coaster?

Well, there's always frame-by-frame with the sound off. Halle was made for that viewing mode.

So, how was the acting in the film? From the previews, Theron's acting appeared very, very stiff so I figured this movie was going to suck. But if she actually tried acting, maybe it's worth a watch.

I wouldn't begin to know where to put labels on the acting (kinda like some can't get technical about how speakers sound). I never saw the cartoon and was only aware that it existed. I thought it was pretty good despite my concerns.

The cartoons rock. If you can rent them do it.

The film did only $12.66 mil its first weekend at the box office. A disaster.
"A failure even on the action-adventure/vicarious-butt-kicking level."
-- John Anderson, LOS ANGELES TIMES
"A hokey, post-apocalyptic jumble of clunky storytelling, tin-ear dialogue, and ineptly staged action sequences."
-- Timothy Knight, REEL.COM
"The movie should have been called Aeon Sucks."
-- Mike McGranaghan, AISLE SEAT
"Are you really willing to pay full fare just to see Charlize Theron do backflips in skintight S&M outfits?"
-- Susan Granger, MODAMAG.COM
Hmmm...let me think about that last one.

TomTotally different story. It's worth what you paid for it.
Remember , this is the movie that caused Hallie Berrie to state something like "I've really got to start reading scripts before accepting roles."

Well, put it this way: I saw "Catwoman" as an in-flight movie and I was still tempted to get up and walk out on it!
There were only two remotely good things about that movie: 1) Halle Berry fills the Catwoman outfit nicely. 2) The ending. The ending itself wasn't any good, but the fact that the movie was finally over was great.

Too funny! And I couldn't agree more.
